Ma Yatel powered away from the field in the final furlong to score an emphatic 13 ¾-length maiden win on Dec. 16 at Jebel Ali Racecourse in the UAE.
The 2-year-old colt is the 20th winner for Flameaway, who is atop the First-Crop sire list with three stakes winners and is in the top five by progeny earnings and wins.
Ma Yatel was off a bit tardy in the 1,200 meter race on a straight course, but recovered quickly and was just behind the leaders through the first half of the race. He hit his best stride with two furlongs to run and scampered away from the field to win with complete authority in 1:10.41 on a fast track.
Consigned by Darby Dan to the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling sale, Ma Yatel sold for $150,000 to Jebel Ali Stables. The bay colt races in the colors of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Ma Yatel was bred by John Oxley and is out of Delightful Melody, making him a half-brother to graded stakes winner Arzak.
